This tool is for model railroaders, doll house modelers, and anyone who scratch builds models.
For years I've broken #11 Xacto blades trying to cut door and window openings in sheet styrene. It's the only way I knew to cut them. But I was aware of a nibbling tool. I thought I knew what it did but was too cheap to spend the money to try it.
Finally I had a little extra cash and found out that the price on Amazon was WAY less than I though I'd have to spend. I ordered it and now wish that I hadn't waited so long.
The tool is easy to use, and is such a time saver it's incredible. You simply mark the styrene for the window or door location in pencil or pen. Drill a hole in the styrene that's about 1/4" or 5mm, square it off with a #11 Xacto blade and insert the nibbling tool. Squeezing the handle cuts a small amount of material from the styrene. Keep going till the opening is the size you want and you're done.
The nibbling tool will cut styrene and thin sheet brass and other soft metals.
Perhaps the best part is that I don't worry about cutting my fingers and my holes are never over sized.
