Makes Life Easier! [Posted on 2008-07-07] This is our second Reel Smart purchase, although this was a different model from the first. It has come in quite handy during the recent drought in our area, as we have been watering quite a bit. Knowing that we don't have to wind up the hose when we're done is a plus! The bonus is that our shrubs get watered as the hose reel cranks in the hose. The only disadvantage is that this model is lighter weight than the other, so the reel moves around more if you pull the hose too hard. It comes with stakes to put into the ground, so we'll have to attach these to see if we have better results.
Making watering the garden a bit less of a chore [Posted on 2008-07-08]
This retractable hose reel functions as advertised!! No more back-breaking times spent bent over a hose reel cranking away for what can seem like forever. And the hose actually ends up neatly distributed on the reel, ready for the next use. I highly recommend this item!!!
Owned for 3 weeks; still waiting for parts so we can use it! [Posted on 2008-08-10] We bought this and were hopeful that it would be great. We hooked it up out of the box and it would water fine but would not even attempt to rewind the hose. I tried to relieve all of the weight of the hose and NOTHING. We called the company and they said they have a part that will solve the problem and it would be mailed in 7-14 days!!! So we are patient and wait for it to get here. Again we put it all together excited that it will finally work and NOTHING! AGAIN it wouldn't even attempt to rewind the hose. Call the company again and here we wait for a whole new unit to arrive. Again the "7-14 days" until we can hopefully get one that works!
There are some good reviews on here so I am hopefull still that we will eventually get one that works but you should know that we did not immediately get one as advertised.
amazing product, hose gets stuck sometimes [Posted on 2008-08-30] I have had this for about a month now. I think it is completely amazing that you can just push the handle and it rolls the hose up. I have to pull the hose out pretty far to water a plant in the the far end of the yard, which is why i wanted this product. I would recommend this product instead of the version with the sink because this is way less bulky and easier to manuever. my only issues with this product is that the hose seems to get stuck inside sometimes. i have really had to yank at the hose, or open the top of the box to fix it a few times. it has only been a month, so I am still waiting to see if this is going to be a regular problem. it says that it works with all hoses, but maybe my hose is too wide? I am waiting to order another one of these until i see if the hose sticking problem gets worse.
No Crank Hose Reel [Posted on 2008-09-19] Product came already assembled, a definite plus. This product rates right along with a garage door opener. You can surely do it the manual way, but once you've had one, you wonder why you didn't get one sooner. In my case, I didn't know they existed. Or at least one that didn't operate without electricity. This product is about 1/2 the size of the conventional manual enclosed crank models and costs not much more. All my neighbors are buying one since they saw mine in action. With the water turned on, you just flip a lever and it does the rest. I highly recommend this product.
