My favorite tool - until it started falling apart... [Posted on 2005-04-20] I previously owned 15.6 and 9.6 volt Panasonic tools and had very high opinions of them. I currently own an entire Bosch cordless outfit, but when I decided to buy an impact, I decided on the Panasonic because of the high amp NIMH batteries. I've had it for about 1 1/2 weeks been using it for a basement remodel, and after two days of use, the gray rubber molding started to peel off. Then, yesterday, I dropped it from my hip and it fell about 2' to the concrete floor and broke both tabs off of the battery that hold it to the drill. Then, I noticed that the other battery, which hadn't been dropped, had one of it's tabs broken off of it.
This thing is falling apart! So I call Panasonic, and they tell me all I can do is drop it off at a factory service location. This process would, of course, take about 3-4 weeks, parts depending. If this was a Bosch or a Dewalt - I'd have had a new one next day air. As it is - I'm returning it immediately, and will never again talk up Panasonic power tools to everyone who asks. Never buy another ever.
unbelievable power and control [Posted on 2005-12-06] I've had this tool for about a year now and I can say it is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I've removed damaged screws with it when nothing else worked, and been able to drive screws and lags with relative ease in situations where it would have been impossible to with a regular drill due to lack of leverage. And as with all Panasonic tools, the battery seems to last forever.
Should have bought one sooner! [Posted on 2007-01-12] Great driver. It makes quick work of driving screws into heavier gauge steel or wood. Although it is compact and light weight, which is good, a more powerful battery would be better for heavy duty work. It would make the drill heavier but it would tackle the tough jobs with more ease. In the course of my work day, I can drive 4 hours worth of framing screws into 20 gauge steel before changing batteries. That's pretty good and it makes them much easier to drive.
Great tool - [Posted on 2007-02-28] I had a previous post on this tool but it was incorrect. I do not own this tool. I have the Panasonic EY7202GQW instead. I feel that the 7202 which I own is a better tool. Search for it and compare features befor you buy.
Very well designed and built [Posted on 2008-01-17] This impact driver has a good ergonomic design that feels good in my hands and it's not very heavy. There is plenty of torque for any home improvement project. Made in Japan.
