Good Value [Posted on 2005-10-19] My husband is working on finishing our basement. Instead of renting a tile saw for a bunch of weekends we decided to purchase one. This saw has worked really well so far. There was no problem cutting any of the tiles. The only thing is that it does make a mess from all of the tile dust collecting in the water so make sure that you use it in an area that can be easily cleaned. Overall we are really happy with this purchase!
Good wet saw! [Posted on 2007-05-16] I cut tiles for two small bathrooms with lots of angles without any problems. The cutter was easy to use. It cuts fairly fast and very well. I only had problems attaching and setting up the protective guard. Otherwise, a great tool and I look forward to using it again in future projects.
Only for small jobs [Posted on 2007-05-17] I have what is essentially the same saw purchased several years ago from that big orange money-sucking store. This is NOT a commercial-grade tool. It's light and easily transported, but not terribly powerful. It's okay in soft stone like slate, but a little slow. The fence on it is somewhat hard to move and adjust. Cutting through granite or quarts may result in tripping the internal breaker repeatedly. I began as a DIY homeowner and am now a professional remodeler and have need of a wet saw fairly often. As my the number of projects requiring a wet saw has increased, I've found it necessary to upgrade to a beefier saw. But, if you don't need one for regular professional work, this is a handy little unit.
kitchen project [Posted on 2007-08-23] Having never used a product like this before, I was amazed at how easy it was to master. My wife had wanted a new kitchen counter and had bought 4" tile to lay over the existing counter. The problem was all the curves. I was told I needed a wet saw to install them, so ordered the Master Tiler 1. I must say, the counters now look professionally installed and my wife thinks I'm a professional too! The only disappointment was not finding a owners manual in the box. Amazon customer service advised me to call the manufacturer, but that didn't help. Luckily, the wet saw is pretty easy to figure out. I am now looking for more projects around the house to use it on.
PlasPlug Tile Saw [Posted on 2008-03-04] Great for home projects. Easy to use, easy to clean up. It doesn't make a mess while using it like the cheap saws do. I like the contained water reservoir, no need to refill in the middle of the project and it's easy to drain when you are done. The guide arm is nice in that it has separate clamps on both sides so it doesn't slip while you are cutting.
On the con side: the arbor isn't perfectly straight and removable tile bed piece doesn't sit perfectly flat when in the down position.
This was a good purchase short of buying a professional quality saw.
FYI - This is almost an exact replica of the $400 Huffy saw at the big orange home improvement store
