Great for all Joints [Posted on 2001-04-25] These little biscuits are great for every type of joint. 45 degree joints are so simple and you can rely on these little pieces of wood to guarantee that you will not have to worry about joints coming apart in the future. Just make sure that when you are using biscuits to make a solid board for a table top or anything like it, you place the biscuits so you do not cut into them when making that finish end cut.
Not as useful as #20's, but still a great deal! [Posted on 2005-02-21] For years I have been using P-C biscuits in my woodworking projects. Since I work with alot of 3/4" - 5/4" wood, I use #20 biscuits more than the smaller #10 and #00, but I have found that these #10 biscuits excell at reinforcing mitered corners.
I have not had any significant amount of "bad" biscuits from Porter-Cable. There is an occasional thick one - meaning it either didn't get compressed as it should have or it swelled from moisture - but these are few and far between.
Basically, I have had nothing but good luck with these so I highly recommend them!
Biscuit for Your Projects [Posted on 2005-08-02] These wood biscuits work really well while joining your frames together. They help to stablize and strenghten your wood frames without the awkwardness of doweling.
Great, but not Excellent [Posted on 2007-06-08] These biscuits are great, but not excellent. I have found that I have had to modify several of the biscuits before use as they have been pressed to the point where a bit of the material protrudes from the edge preventing it from being inserted into the groove. I have only used about 50 of the 1000, and have had to tweak about 4 already; that's a 8% failure rate.
I've taken to having to inspect each one before inserting into the glued groove.
If you have the time to inspect each one, then these are great.
