The Best Of All [Posted on 2003-02-24]
I purchased a Porter Cable combo about five years ago. We use it and the Saw in light construction. I was working off a ladder last week at the peak of a building that we are building and had my old drill in my nail apron. Lost my balance and the drill fell out and befor I could catch it down it went to the ground below. Broke the battery holder and part of the handle. Battery was still hook in to terminal. To my suprise pull the triger and it was still working. Used some duct tape to hold battery in place and finished job. Rather that try and get it fixed I have ordered me a new one but will keep the old one for emergency use. This is one tough drill I have several other brands but Porter Cable is the favorite one for me.

Good Tool -- Bad Battery [Posted on 2003-03-06]
This is a great tool; smooth, not heavy, rugged case, good power. This does have plastic drive gears which eventually wear out but is fine the casual worker or light work. I spent 3 weekends driving 3/8 lags screws and stripped the gears. No problem getting a new drill. I have 2 other similair models but the batteries last about 2 hours with medium work load and may take 4 or more hours to cool off and take 2 hours to charge. My old model PC drill last 4 hours and charges in about 1 1/2 hours.

I purchased the drill a few months ago and all was amazing. A little bit of a screamer but whatever. No big deal really. But now I am on my 3RD CHARGER and have to buy yet another battery!!!!! The power of this drill is great but ..., chargers and batteries are not cheap. At least to me they aren't. Too bad you can't combine DeWalt chargers with the Porter Cable drill. Then heaven would truly be on earth. If you buy one, make sure you have the extra money to buy replacement parts. Lates.

Absolutely love it [Posted on 2003-05-08]
It is the most used portable tool in my house. It's kinda heavy after a while, but the power and usefulness overcome that big time. After many projects, it still works flawlessly like day one. There is nothing I hold back on this tool.

Don't waste your money... [Posted on 2004-12-08]
I bought the driver and saw kit and the hammer drill kit. In the first year I replaced the drill/drivers three times...while under warranty. The saw worked well and the flashlight was the best part of this kit. Now it is a couple years old and the batteries are dead and at $90 each I am not replacing them. I bought Hitachi this time with a five year warranty. I wasted $600 on the Porter Cable junk.
