I bought this nailer to put down 2 1/4" solid red oak flooring. My first time installing flooring and the tool worked perfectly. One thing I learned to ensure the cleat is driven completely flush is you must hit the plunger solidly with the mallet. The manual says not to hit it too hard or it will damage the tool, but you need to give it a decent whack. Doing so also pulls warped boards together nicely before the cleat is driven. I also switched from a pancake compressor to a 30 gallon shop compressor as recommended by Porter Cable. Not sure if that helped as much as learning how to strike the plunger, but it can't hurt.

Pricy tool, but it does an outstanding job. I'd buy it again.

The Porter Cable 2" cleat nails came in just a few days. The nails have worked without any problems. I have been more than satisfied with my purchase.

but thats a personal opinion and many may disagree...I wish I could quantify why...but for me its what I learned on and what I am used to...staples to me can be more sensitive to tounge splitting but beyond that its personal taste
