Upholstery Stapler [Posted on 2008-10-03] Most likely a very nice stapler, however, I was new at this and I did not realize it was powered by air.
Porter-Cable Upholstery Stapler [Posted on 2008-10-07] Purchased this item to do a first-timer job on a convertible top replacement. The stapler has performed flawlessly at this point it time, nearly completed on the top installation. Also did some testing with it before actually using it and it was very easy to figure out and use. This stapler uses standard 3/8" wide crown staples, for anyone wondering. In my opinion it was reasonably priced in comparison to other similar items, and is a well known name brand.
Made it happen [Posted on 2008-11-05] The great discount I got by applying for the card enabled my to repair my office chair AND own a tool for LESS than paying an upolsterer to do it... and having to throw my chair in our landfill. The stapler now is a useful tool in my collection and I know I'll use it in many applications for a long time.
Works well when it works well.... [Posted on 2008-11-18] As another reviewer mentioned, there are a lot of misfires. Doesn't compare favorably with my set of Bostitch nailers. I think this machine just needs constant oiling and cleaning, but it's a pain and the instructions are insufficient. I first used this to reupholster an antique settee/rocker set and it worked very well with a few misfires (5-10%). Now I'm using it to make a set of 5 window cornices and the misfires have been getting out of control. Honestly not sure if I can recommend this, but I was very pleased with it initially. I'm currently researching to see if I can perform other types of maintenance to reduce misfires. Another reviewer said it wasn't for casual use...maybe it's true. I'm on my 1000th or so staple and it's rough going now.
great little upholstery stapler [Posted on 2008-12-17] Needed an upholstery stapler that would use 1/4 inch staples for a small project of re-upholstering a set of 6 chairs. This product was light weight, powerful enough to drive staples into solid oak, and the tip was small enough to fit into tight places. Once we figured out that the staples fit underneath, facing down, then it worked great. One time where it was helpful to look at the instructions. :)
