Customer Reviews:

very poor service [Posted on 2002-01-23]
After buying and returning a delta cabinet saw because of poor customer service and a bowed top. I spent the extra money and bought a powermatic saw. I had used powermatic equipment in college with great results. After getting the heavy machine home unloaded, uncrated, and placed on a mobile base, by myself, I started the assembly process. Some 31/2 hours later and a lot of frustration, I quit trying to put the machine together. I couldn't get the rails for the fence system set at the correct height according to the instructions. I tried to put the thing together the next night. No success. I tried to get the parts attached a couple more times over the next two weeks, failure again. So I called Powermatic technical services, what a misnomer. A fellow named John said that he didnt know what to tell me after I explained the problem to him. He said that I was probably not reading the instructions correctly or something. I called him back after trying to put the thing together again, same comments. I was begining to fell like I was not too bright. After a couple months with the pile of junk sitting in the middle of my garage, I tried to put the parts together again after carefully reading the instructions, failure again. I called the same guy again and got the same story. The stuff was stored again. A visit to a tool store with Powermatic tools on display told me that I probably had the wrong parts. A call was placed to Powermatic and Jet to get some replacement parts. To make a long story short, after talking to several people with no results, I finally called the president of the Powermatic company to get things corrected. The saw is together and will be sold shortly so I can buy a General or one of the european saws. I was very disappointed by the service provided by the company.

Powermatic 66 with Router LIft [Posted on 2002-08-26]
Recieved quickly.
Instructions were good, all pieces accounted for.
While it takes some time to assemble, everything went together very well and the table tops were flat and true.
Has been running great and no regrets.
Super fence and super power compared to my old Delta contractors saw. The router table/lift is also super.
Only issues: One of the cast iron extension wings had a small 4x4 inch area that wasn't quite ground smooth-easily solved, and one of the bolts securing the top of the table to the cabinet had somehow sheared off - also easily solved.
Overall, great saw. Mobile base- a must unless you don't plan on moving it for quite some time.

Great Table Saw [Posted on 2005-01-06]
I am impressed with this piece of equipment for several reasons.
First, the assembly, while quite invlolved is explained in the instructons by someone who had to actually put put it together themselves. The quality is the best I could find...and I researched my purchase for over a year. The only item I found lacking is the motor dust cover (minor detail). If you need a serious table saw and can afford the price, I highly recommend the Powermatic 66. One note, unless you are doing production work all day long, you don't need the 5 hp.

crapy bolts [Posted on 2005-04-16]
this is a great saw but for the money they should give you better bolts to assemble it with. I mean you put a little tork on them and they snap off. What the hell?
