High Quality Hose Reel [Posted on 2007-08-19] I have had this hose reel for a year and a half. It has been outside the whole time and, unlike the many plastic devices I've had before, this one has held up through hard freezed and 100 degree days. It still works perfectly and smoothly with a nice, crisp, reassuring click with each turn of the wheel. I am about to buy a second one for the other side of the house.
Assembly takes some time, but the parts are well-engineered, making the experience pleasurable.
Hose Reel That Works [Posted on 2007-08-23] I have had many hose reels that are hard to turn to wind up the hose, and whose design facilitates tangling. This reel is easy to turn even for a 60 year old woman and because of its design does not tangle the hose. It is also very sturdy and seems like it will last forever. Pricey, but worth it.
Works Great! [Posted on 2007-09-08] The all brass fittings and good quality connector hose (connects reel to spigot) makes this a great purchase.
Slipping Quality [Posted on 2008-05-21] Easy assembly and good instructions. However, for the price, you would expect better quality. There are some plastic parts and the unit doesn't feel as sturdy or as well made as a Rapid Reel that I purchased about 3 to 4 years ago that was all metal construction and built like a tank. The fittings were also heftier in the previous model. The quality has defintely slipped a notch or two. Still better than the plastic hose reels on the market, but a disappointment for the price and as compared to an earlier Rapid Reel. It appears that a concious decision was made to reduce manufacturing costs, which in turn, sacrificed quality.
Finally a good hose reel [Posted on 2008-06-08] Top notch build. Instructions that are above and beyond what you have come to expect these days. This is replacing an endless line of plastic junk. I will never buy anything else - about to order our second.
