Ryobi 825R 4-Cycle Curved Shaft TrimmerPlus [Posted on 2005-08-31] Not only has Amazon.com been a great provider in products and service. This Ryobi trimmer is exactly what I needed. I have only used the trimmer attachment but it has done wonders to my yard. Very easy to set-up and even easier to maintain. Very easy to handle, very quiet to the ear and too easy to start. Can't wait to get the other attachments. Cannot beat the price and quality the others do not provide.
Nothing but problems [Posted on 2005-09-07] I purchased a Ryobi and edger tool from Menards on June 2003. The choice was easy - I had spoken to two Ryobi owners and read a leading consumer magazine, and they all told me that the Ryobi was the trimmer to own. I was impressed (and hooked) on my first use. Unfortunately, this feeling did not last.
After a few uses, the interchange system started to malfunction. The inside of the trimmer would come out when I removed the trimmer or edger attachment. I took it to a Ryobi authorized repair shop, and they called me the next week and told me it was fixed. The first use after getting my trimmer back, it happened again. I returned it to the Ryobi repair shop for repair. This time, they kept it for almost two months. I received it back in perfect working order, missing my starting instructions sticker, but working nonetheless. I used it a total of six times in 2003.
2004 was a good year for my Ryobi; it worked perfectly on every occassion for a full seven months. 2005 didn't follow suit. On my third use this season, my Ryobi wouldn't start. After following the repair manual, it started but would die after a few minutes. Now it won't stay running for over 30 seconds. It is quite disappointing to only use a trimmer for less than 11 months and have these kinds of problems.
I recently talked to the two Ryobi owners that recommended I purchase a Ryobi trimmer. One recently threw his three-year old trimmer away since he could not get it to start. The other had his three-year Ryobi run three times; twice after purchase and once after a trip to the mechanic. Now it just sits in his garage and doesn't run.
Now I come to find out that Ryobi doesn't even make these things anymore - stopped in October of 2003. Don't buy it; you'll regret it!
Wonderful Product [Posted on 2005-09-16] The trimmer has great power, is quite, and has the easiest spool wind of any trimmer I have ever looked at or owned.
I am very happy.
RYOBI [Posted on 2005-09-21] I have been using ryobi lawn equipment for years...I have all the attachments and i just bought a new 4 cycle engine...I
really like it...It is easy to crank and you don't have to mix gas with the 4 cycle engine...It should last me a long time.
Reliable trimmer [Posted on 2007-01-21] The Ryobi is a very dependable trimmer. I've used for long periods of time with no problems. I do wish that the shaft was about six inches longer so that I could avoid being too close to the action.
