Identified as a Mod. 765, 2-cycle gas trimmer which I got as a fathers' day gift 2 years ago. Was always hard to start, last summer did not seem to run as fast as previously. This summer would hardly start at all, then ran slowly until now will not run at all. Seems not to get enough fuel. My estimate is the needle valve needs adjusting a little bit. Located the "Authorized Service" shop and called. They advised that they no longer handled Ryobi trimmers and when I told the manager of my problem he suggested I throw it away and buy a decent trimmer, that repairs would cost more than the tool was worth. I then called the Ryobi customer service, asked for some instructions on how I might get into and adjust the carburator and was promptly challenged as to my qualifications for working on this machine and was refused any assistance whatsoever before the person hung up.(I have been fixing my own machines for 50 years). I then proceeded to take the engine apart and observed that the carburator is a cubical block assembly which appears to be riveted together with no visible external means of access to make any sort of adjustments. Now I understand the advice from the ex- authorized service person and am considering applying some precision adjustments to the machine with my 12-lb. sledgehammer so it will fit into my trashcan.
