no better pocket knife [Posted on 2005-03-04] This is an ultra handy knife from a great company. I removed the pocket clip, and it floats completely unnoticed in my front pocket. The steel is plenty hard, so it keeps a good edge. The S.A.T. mechanism(just a coil spring that flips the blade open with a flick of your thumb) helps make it the most convienient pocket knife I have EVER carried. always ready, always sharp, easy to clean(pocket lint and what not). I'll never touch another box cutter again.
SOG speciality knives [Posted on 2008-02-29] I find the SOG knives to be clumsy, awkward, slow access. Check out Buck, made in USA products. True one hand operation. With fore finger, flip the lock safety back, flip the "trigger", voila, eyes closed, blade is out and ready. SOG, meanwhile, the slide thing has to be moved to the "red" ready access, then maybe with one hand after much practice, you may have a blade out. For a reliable switch blade alternative, in my opinion, the Buck is the only choice. And the Buck is razor sharp and seems to retain edge. My SOG knives are good letter openers, edge seems reliable, and are fun to play with. But not a "carry" unit if quick access is a consideration.
Can't be beat! [Posted on 2008-03-19] Though I've been carrying my SOG Blink for quite a few years now, I didn't realize what a great knife it was until I lost mine last weekend. (Yes, that's why I visited this website--to order another one.) It is everthing a pocketknife should be: light, flat, sturdy, one-hand lightening-fast opening, and warranted for life. I've grown so accustomed to using it that I feel naked when it's not in my pocket. It's so slim that it functions as a money clip as well, for those of us who prefer not to carry a bulky wallet.
I've used, abused, and sharpened my SOG thousands of times. A little touching up with a waterstone every now and then is all it takes to keep the edge like a razor. What a great, no-nonsense tool, that is quite at home in my pocket whether it's at the opera, the workshop, or in the field. I simply can't overstate the value and utility of this pint-sized companion!
