The basic functions are the best! Need to divide 23 9/16" by 5. Or find out how many inches 24.5cm is! No Problem!

I find I use this calculator everytime I'm in the workshop or Home Depot shoping for materials.

If there's a negative I'd say that the cover can be awkward to close in a hurry. Great tool otherwise!

Do not buy this if you work in the construction field [Posted on 2005-10-12]
Go with calculated industries if you need a calculator for work in the construction field. I bought 5 of these for my crew and they all broke within 3 months. The construction master series by calculated industries will last years under the same conditions. These are only good if you just need it for desk work.

I only used the sonin 2000 for stairs and rafters and to be perfectly honest it worked every time the given numbers worked like a charm and it was fast and easy.
If I had anything bad to say about the inchmate it would be that it broke the very first time I dropped it from a 6' ladder.
Another major issue is that I only paid 19.95 for it at a Menards home improvement center now it's online for 39.00 somethings wrong. At that price the construction master is a much better buy.

I am a hobby woodworker and I am constantly adding, subtracting and dividing mixed numbers - decimals and fractions. I was really happy to discover this little calculator. The directions are easily understood and it gets the job done! No more manual conversions! If there is a better product on the market I have not discovered it.

This is a very good, functional calculator which allows you to calculate numerous kinds of problems. I primarily use it for my woodworking and it comes in handy while I am figuring my lumber needs and costs. I also do concrete work on the side occasionally, and this also has a quick function to figure how many yards of concrete I will need as well as the cost without having to re-enter all my numbers. It comes with some standard, preset numbers for some of the construction features, but most you can reprogram to your specific needs. It is also great to be able to convert your numbers into any form of measurement you might need. I know a lot of things I do, and instructions I read, have either mm, cm, inches, or a variation of these and you are expected to know the equivalents off the top of your head. This calculator makes it easy -- by pushing any of the measurement keys it transforms your number into it's equivalents.

It does have it's faults too. It is made of cheap plastic and I am afraid if I drop it or set something heavy on it, that it will break. But being cautious or finding a case for it will solve this problem.

It also gives you errors, which I assume can be pretty frustrating especially when you enter a complicated problem. But it does have a "back" feature will take you back a step or two in hopes of correcting it. This is not by all means a "solve-all" feature though. But, if you take care when entering you formula or problem and make sure you enter everything right, as well as follow the clear help and examples in the owners manual, the errors can definatly be minimized. Practice also makes perfect.

I would recommend this product.
