Ink- Rite [Posted on 2005-04-21] I'm a floorcovering installer. And I use the ink rite line to lay out tile and wood jobs. I like the fine line ink rite gives. And it doesn't come off after troweling thinset or adhesive. Good job Ink Rite.
snapline critique [Posted on 2005-08-06] I am not impressed with this item. The snapline has leaked from day one. The line is hard to see. It does not rewind well. On a positive note, the string used is very thin, so it could conceivably put out a very thin line.
Very Disappointed in the Tajima IR101s [Posted on 2006-03-20] I had high hope for this product but was sadly disappointed because try as I might, I could not get the item to produce much of a line at all. If it did the line would have been nice since the line weight is very thin. I could not get the reel to wet the line enough to produce any visible line on a sheet of plywood. I didn't even bother to try snapping a line on a floor. At first I thought the pad in the unit needed to sit over night and "soak in". But after refilling the unit the next day at at times thereafter I never was able to get it to snap a line of any sort. I guess this thing is headed for the can.
Not Impressed [Posted on 2006-07-29] I purchased this thinking it would be a fine, precise line. It's very hard to get a fine line. It's either to weak or splatters. I didn't want a chalk line that's too fussy. I rather stick with chalk.
inkrite [Posted on 2007-07-28] This tool works well when used within the parameters for which it was probably designed. Primarily indoors or in moderate temperatures outdoors. The ink will dry very quickly on the line in hot and/or windy conditions as could be expected. Experimented by adding a small amount of water to the inkwell to re-hydrate the sponge and ink, worked surprisingly well (not the all-weather ink). Does leave a nice fine line. Don't expect the tool to replace your chalk line, but it makes a great addition to your toolbox. Tajima chalklines and chalk seem to be the best on the market having used co-workers' and then going back to my cheaper line. Think I'll buy regular and ultra-thin and keep the old black and yellow chalk box for multiple snaps for framing.
