Customer Reviews:

very disappointed [Posted on 2007-11-17]
Initially was very pleased with the blower functionality. The vacuum mulched very well and had good suction for an electric, although the flared out vacuum nozzle left it prone to frequent clogs. The bad news, after only 1 and a half seasons of light use, it burned up - as in started smelling hot and by the time I got it shut off it was pouring smoke. Thought it might have been the variable switch, but on ivestigation found the fiberglass mount for the motor brushes completely burned up allowing one of the brushes to jam in the motor. Overall, really great performance the first few times you use it, but in the long run, a disappointing fire-hazzard.

Burnt up after 1 year of light use [Posted on 2007-11-26]
Only had this for about a year. Motor burnt up today. Worked fine until today.

Good blower - until the motor went up in smoke! [Posted on 2007-12-04]
I've had this blower for about 1 year (2 fall seasons in the Mid-Atlantic). It did a good job of blowing anything - leaves, gravel, grass, rocks, kids toys left in the yard. It's easy to set up for blowing. It was not nearly as easy to use as a vacuum. The initial conversion from blower to vacuum is easy. The bag fills up pretty quickly, even with the high reduction factor. The bag gets very heavy and makes my shoulder and back ache pretty fast. The vacuum bag is difficult to remove from the motor housing. I usually spray the housing with WD-40 before I install the vacuum bag the first time. Even with that, I usually have to put my foot on the vacuum tube and pull as hard as I can on the vacuum bag until it comes off. Considering how quickly the bag fills up, this gets old fast. Also, the vacuum tube clogs easily and often, whether with small twigs (which are hard to separate from leaves), wet leaves, or dry leaves. I have taken to using my bagging mower instead of the vacuum when I don't feel like dealing with the vacuum tube becoming plugged repeatedly. It's also not very quiet. I used it without ear plugs once, and had a headache for the rest of the day. With ear muffs, it's no big deal.

After 1 year of use, the motor has burned up. I was using it this past weekend to blow leaves for about 30 minutes when the power suddenly dropped. Then the motor began smoking heavily, even after I shut it off and unplugged it. I took it apart and cleaned/inspected the motor, but found no obvious burn marks on the windings. It works, but it doesn't sound like it will last long. I checked the Toro website, and they don't offer a replacement motor. I guess these are supposed to be thrown away after they burn up, even though the motor is easily removed and replaced.

If you want a powerful blower, vacuum that works ok but is not easy to use, and a blower/vac that may only last about 2 seasons, then this is the blower/vac for you. Otherwise, keep shopping.

Toro Review [Posted on 2007-12-05]
I have been very pleased with this Toro blower. It is everything and more that I read it was. The power from this blower is second to none. The pick up is also excellent. The only downfall is that you have to drag a power cord around the yard. I'm not an electric powered fan because of this so I went out and bought a gas blower. The Toro blower is still way more powerful and the weight is next to nothing. My gas blower does the job, but it doesn't compare to the power of the Toro. If you are deciding between a gas blower and electric the only hurdle is the power cord. Other than that the Toro is one fine machine that is worthy of serious consideration. Enjoy!
