My first Toro died after nearly 15 yrs. Since I had such longevity, I decided to stay with a good thing. Wow! This one is such an improvement over my older model (seems lighter, less noisy to mention a couple of the attributes that I noticed immediately). Great product however, I must state that I have never used the mulcher.

Have owned 4 blowers over 15 years, and this is the best. The continuously variable speed control allow lower (and quieter) speeds for corners of the patio to avoid clouds of dust!! Then turn up the knob for max air speed on the driveway.
Toro Ultra Blower/Vac #51599 [Posted on 2008-05-07]
Although I have owned the Toro Ultra for only about a month, the performance is very good as a blower. The real test will be after 1-2 years, where previous Toro's have not held up well.

I had a Toro Blower/Vacuum for almost 11 years. It finally gave out and I purchased this Toro Ultra 12 #51599. I've used it twice and so far have found it quite satisfactory. It has enough power to blow over a tree!

We chose this blower because of the metal impeller, as the impeller seems to be a vulnerable component of the unit when you're in vacuum mode -- especially when you're working among stones. So far, so good. Our last machine, also a Toro, lasted for years, so we're confident this will be durable.
