Higher primate lodge card [Posted on 2008-07-15] Without the Deluxe Tinker I'd be just another slack-jawed mouth-breather calling for my drool-bucket to be changed. Eventually I hope to have my Deluxe Tinker implanted in my arm. How could I interact with the modern world without pliers and Phillips screwdriver? I have a subconscious urge to take it onto airliners -- that's how I lost my last one. The scissors confer critical cuticle care. The toothpick makes a fine map pointer. And ever since the plastic actuator broke off the top of my Braun coffee grinder, I have used the awl to press the tiny recessed button that turns on the motor and pulverizes the beans of rapid thought.
This wouldn't be my first choice for a picnic knife (no corkscrew) but nothing beats it for a day in the lab.
Exceeds expectations! [Posted on 2008-07-18] Exactly what I wanted, Everyone should own one of these.
Dimensions(because they never give you enough of these)
3.5" long, 13/16"(just over 3/4")wide, pliar is 1/8" wide, & 2 3/4" long.
This is a great tool, I owned the feildmaster model & like it very much but wanted one with a pliar, and this one fits the build. It is slightly wider than the fieldmaster, but is not too bulky or bothersome.
I use it a lot at work, I do air conditioning research in buildings with pnuematic controls. I use the pliars to remove stubborn pnuematic tubing from barbed fittings, then I use the scissors to cut off the warped end of tubing, and finally use the reamer to ream out the tubing for easy removal in the future.
I have found every tool to be usefull not just at work but everywhere. I like the combination of tools on the Deluxe tinker and the size is just right, if your thinking of buying a swiss army knife this model is great.
Really good knife [Posted on 2008-08-13] I own lots of SAKs, but the Deluxe Tinker is my favorite. I carry it on a nearly daily basis. For me, the tools on it are the perfect combination--enough tools to handle most tasks, but not so many that you are carrying items you don't need. The pliers are precise and tough, and the blades are Yowee! sharp. Though I love my SwissChamp, there are tools on it I've never used. (How many fish does one scale in an average day?) This one doesn't have that problem--I've used every tool, most numerous times. If the Spartan doesn't seem like enough, and a SwissChamp is too much, the Deluxe Tinker might be perfect for you.
Swiss Army knife [Posted on 2008-09-06] Excellent product. The shipping was hilarious - the box was big enough to hold a pillow, and all that was in it, other than the packing, was this little pocket knife! John
"Go-to" Quality [Posted on 2008-10-05] This is an excelent tool, no two ways about it. I first got a Victorinox knife from the retail store I work at. I loved that one. So, when I thought I lost it I went on Amazon to search for a viable replacement. The thing I like about Victorinox knives is their simple but solid construction. I like multi tools that handle more like pliers, but they have their place. Alot of the time those types of multi tools tend to be bulky and heavy. This knife is just about perfect both in size and weight, and of course the quality is there as it always is with Victorinox. MY only challenge is trying to find how many applications I can use this on. I recommend this knife to anyone looking for quality and value.
