Deserves a GENIUS AWARD! [Posted on 2007-11-25] Amazon shipped this to me for free in like 3 days. I fell in love with it after the first use. And I'm a guy who HATES regular weed eaters. Was delighted to sell my old one at a garage sale. Hated the noise next to my head, hated trying to carry the darn thing around as it gave me back aches. Mostly I hated that stupid "bump" routine to let out more string. I hated the annoying string head refill process, etc. I had to borrow one from a neighbor this year and hated his so much I brought it right back. All string line trimmers are from hell.
Oh, but this is a dream! The whipper part is one piece--a joyful goodbye to that ridiculous bump head mess of fish line. This is thick, heavy stuff that is what all string trimmers should use, just a single piece that lasts and lasts... Yes!
My trimmer would only run on half choke and kept dying. Check the gas cap. DUH! It has a tiny rubber air-breather tube that had sealed itself shut on the end where it had been cut. I re-cut that end, opened it up, so the gas tank could get air. No more problems.
*****Wheels! Whoopee! The army thought up putting wheels on their big guns ages ago. Wheels are genius! For one the annoying 2-cycle engine is away from your head. Control is excellent--would you take wheels off a regular lawnmower and try to cut your lawn that way? Of course not! Oh, this machine is heaven for anyone who hates the old fashion type of string trimmer. Long live the wheeled, thick string, weed eater! Thank you Amazon! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!!
Weed Trimmer on Wheels [Posted on 2008-01-07] Ordered several of these. Always arrived damaged and had to return for another. If your lucky enough to get one all-in-one-piece, they do a fantastic job. Being on wheels, you don't have to carry it around and wear your arms out.
continued disappointments [Posted on 2008-02-16] For a machine that I waa so delighted with and has such great possibilities this is a dud. I was given one for my birthday and within two months I had it in the shop. I finally bought another one because I thought it just had to be that one machine. It has been at the shop 3 0r 4 times and has been worked on by an authorized technician at my home twice. The shaft will not stay on so the cutter wheel does not move. The latest problem is that I can crank it but it vibrates so much that the choke lever will not stay up so it quits. I've bought weedeater products for years because they're light and dependable. Weedeater should discontinue this one or beef it up so it will run longer than a day or two without having to go back to the shop.
Good Product [Posted on 2008-04-05] If you don't want to kill your back or arms using a weed eater, buy this one. It's so light and easy to use, it makes doing yard work not so much a chore. I'll never go back to a hand held!
Nice idea, and price, but product functionality is horrible [Posted on 2008-04-07] I purchased this product December of 2006. I had to return the first one as it arrived broken. The second one received wasn't broken but attempting to assemble using the instructions was a challenge. After assembling, I wanted to at least start it. I filled the gas/oil tank primed it and it was very difficult to start. The motor was very tight. After about 10 minutes, I finally got it started. Everything seemed find, but I had no weeds to trim in December. So I pushed it into my storage area in my garage. The next morning I smelled a strong odor of gas in my garage. I looked around and found all the gas had dripped out of the tank. Apparently the bolts were not tight. I didn't want to mess with sending it back, so I took it to a authorized service dealer and they looked at it finding nothing wrong. I had to pay $35.00 because of this. Well when I got it home it wasn't leaking, but they had taken off the tank so I am sure they fixed it without knowing. Well I used it a few times, but then the accelerator lever started misbehaving. I would push it for full throttle, but nothing would happen. So, still under warranty, I took it back to an authorized dealer and was told this is not covered under warranty and would cost $170.00 to repair. I took it home. I called Weed Eater, the manufacture and they basically told me sorry we cannot do anything. What a waste of money. I have since purchased an Ariens Walk Behind Trimer. It was twice as much, but well worth it! Thanks for reading and I sincerely hope no one will waste their money on this product like I did and if you do, I wish you all the best.
