Yard vacuum works fine as long as you don't need help [Posted on 2003-09-18]
Yard vacuum is fine, now. At first it wouldn't start at all. Nearly killed myself trying. Called for factory help and didn't get much except I was given a local service number to take it to. I then found that that company didn't service MTD products anymore. Then got a second number and took (lots of trouble because it is very heavy)it to them. Service guy finally figured that something was missing(not sure because he had never seen one of these). We finally unplugged a safty switch which is supposed to be depressed by a lever mounted on the nozzle. I works fine with safety disconnected. The lever was left off in manufacture. When I called the warranty department of MTD I was told I mhad to take it back to service place. I asked for the lever to be mailed to me since it is so hard for me to get it there, the person (who would not give his name) got very rude when I told him it was a lot of trouble for me and it is brand new, they should try to help. He was rude and hung up on me. So much for factory help,

Rude Factory service and lack of information [Posted on 2003-10-15]
I shopped for the machine locally and had a courteous service person call the factory for the information I requested, since they didn't have it in stock.
While I waited, he was connected with three different people; he reported how each was abrupt and rude. Finally the person who was in charge answered with a recording saying he would be unavailable for two weeks and to leave a message. Thelocal salesperson apologized in their behalf repeatedly.
Needless to say, I won't be buying this machine.

We bought this from Amazon.com. We had very quick delivery and it assembled pretty easy. I think its a great product. The "Vac Suction" is not as great as they make it seem... but overall, I am happy!

I MADE A DETAILED REVIEW OF WHAT LAWN VACUUMS WERE AVAILABLE. MY PRIMARY NEED WAS TO CLEAN OAK LEAVES OUT OF 7 DIFFERENT FLOWER BEDS. SOME ARE PLANTED WITH IVY AND OTHER GROUND COVER AND ARE REALLY HARD TO CLEAN OUT. I BOUGHT THE HOSE ATTACHMENT FOR THIS VAC AND COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT A JOB IT DOES. I CAN KNOW DO IN 4 HOURS WITH THIS MACHINE WHAT USED TO TAKE ME 4 DAYS WITH MY ELECTRIC B&D VACUUM. IF YOU HAVE FLOWER BEDS TO CLEAN, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM. COMPARED TO OTHER VACS I LOOKED AT, THIS IS DEFINITELY FAR SUPERION IN CONSTRUCTION.
