These hose guides are very sturdy and heavy. The spike was 14 inches and very usable on corners where the drag from the hose is greater. The spools do not turn on these items, but are fixed.

I also ordered the flower guides from the same company. The spike on the ones I received was only 9 inches long from the bottom of the spool to the tip, not the 14 inches in the description. They will work for me. The spool turns on the flower guides as the hose is pulled along making it easier.
