Noisy! [Posted on 2006-05-16] A nice idea that doesn't provide adequate audio quality in my experience. The unit would pick up "noise" from the operation of my CD player, resulting in a background squealing that was especially audible between tracks. In addition, on trips I had to frequently flip through the various frequency settings to avoid conflicts with radio stations.
Works GREAT for me! [Posted on 2006-05-27] I use this in the car when I want to listen to something on my Rio MP3 player. I think it is fantastic. No complaints about the sound at all. It took me a few tries the first time to find the right settings, but once I got them, it has been a breeze to use. I don't understand the negative reviews at all - I love it!
Flawed Hardware [Posted on 2007-01-06] simple to use, sounds good. but the input wire for the sound breaks only after a couple weeks use in the car. I sent the first one back only to have the replacement do the same thing. You need to use the lighter power supply ans the use of the internal batteries does not do it. I eventually re soldered the wires myself.
a good value, if there are no stations in your area broadcasting on 88.1-88.7 [Posted on 2007-05-22] Transmitters in the higher FM frequencies are more expensive. That's why this unit broadcasts on 88.1-88.7. Not coincidentally those frequencies are popular with low budget stations as well (colleges, small niche stations, even high schools and churches broadcast on these frequencies in many areas).
Before you buy any FM transmitter for your iPod or other device, know what frequencies are likely to work and what aren't. [...].
For me, there is one frequency on the iRock that works for me most of the time. If I travel into the next towns to the north or east, it's useless. If I travel south or west into more rural areas, more frequencies open up for use.
iroc fm transmitter [Posted on 2008-05-27] This unit performs much better than any others of this type.
I use one in my car to play books on cd while I am traveling and another in the home to broadcast internet radio from my computer to the radios in the house. In this way I can hear the internet broadcast on the deck while eating breakfast and not have to disconnect the computer and take it out to the deck.
A word of caution: You will note that the Amazon page shows a power suppply with the iroc. The vendor did not supply the power supply with the irock. It must be purchased separately at additional cost.
