I ordered this before Christmas as a present for my daughter. It arrived on time, thank you. I was also impressed with how quiet it was.

However, upon setting it up, the rubber drive belt broke within 24 hours. Having a Chicago Electric Power Tools product sold by Atlanta Tool Depot with Harbor Freight warranty was very confusing. I called directory assistance for Atlanta, MI, and they had no listing. I was beginning to wonder if this was a bogus company. Harbor Freight was not willing to provide a replacement drive belt, given that they have no record of me as a customer. It made me nervous when I could not find an independent/ direct way to contact Atlanta Tool Depot regading this issue. I sent an email to Amazon, and they forwarded the message to Atlanta Tool Depot, asking them to ship me a replacement drive belt, for dual-drum rock tumbler, model #90979, as soon as possible.

So now, one month later, I have heard nothing. While the product seems great, the service is abysmal. While the possibly great product [rated 5] and terrible service [rated 1] could average to a 3, I still have a product that does not work, thus "2 stars." I would not recommend buying from this company. I also think you can find the product cheaper elsewhere.

Belt brakes [Posted on 2007-03-23]
I bought mine directly from Harbor freight and the belt broke within 24 hours. I exchanged it and got another that lasted for 18 hours. I'm going to try and locate a replacement through a regular industrial supplier.

I bought mine from Harbor Freight, and I was excited about it because it looked A LOT better than my other tumblers with cheap, plastic barrels purchased at a craft store. These barrels have a very large capacity and made out of heavy rubber with a great leak-proof seal. Instead of a drive-shaft type of rotation, this tumbler has two rods that turn and the barrels rest on them. It's got a quiet motor and the thick barrels make for a very quiet operation. I LOVE this machine. Unfortunately, it has a HUGE problem. The belt that drives those rods is a cheap piece of JUNK. I ran it with just one barrel for about 3 days and the belt broke. I went back and got another (they just happen to stock the very part for this tumbler) and it broke as well. I super-glued the belt together and got about 8 hours out of it, but then had to replace it. Harbor Freight has been great about giving me belts, (not charging me the $2.99)but it's one at a time and they break almost immediately - especially when running 2 barrels. I've now gone to an industrial shop and ordered a better belt and hopefully this will solve the problem. I'm tired of my daily trips to Harbor Freight!!!! Other than the belt, the machine seems great.
